The Petzl Croll chest mounted ascender is designed primarily for caving SRT use on a single rope. It lies flat against the chest when connected directly into the central maillon of the sit harness. The Petzl Croll can also be used as a foot mounted ascender. The Croll slides up the rope very easily as the user ascends. The chrome-plated steel cam has inclined teeth and self-cleaning slots to provide grip on wet, icy or muddy ropes. The ergonomic spring-loaded catch allows the cam to be held in the open position and facilitates one-handed installation or removal of the device.
