The Petzl GriGri 2 is the latest incarnation of the popular belay device being lighter, smoother and smaller than the orginal GriGri. It works exactly the same GriGri and offers assisted braking and smooth easily controlled descending. Popular with sports climbers and outdoor centres due to the GriGri's very rapid, 'auto brake' arrest mode.
Care must be taken when using the GriGri2 and the belayer must always have full control of both the live and 'dead' rope as with the conventional belay method.
